Tuby is a revolutionary app that uses augmented reality (AR) technology to help you lose weight through exercise. It combines workouts with fun and offers play-like activities to turn your workout into an addictive game you want to play every day.

What really impressed me about this app is that it uses artificial intelligence (AI) to read your body movements and translate them into game moves. I liked this idea a lot because with this app, working out is just like playing fun games.

Additionally, while I was reading about the Tuby app, I encountered a study explaining that active video games can improve your fitness levels as well as the amount you enjoy exercise.

In randomized trials using active video games, people with type 1 diabetes were found to present the same cardiovascular responses to running and enjoyed it more [1].

From what I saw, I can tell that Tuby can definitely help with weight loss and improve your muscle tone, strength, and cardio levels, as it features plenty of cardio exercises in its games. It makes for an excellent platform for people who find traditional workout routines boring.

The games that the app offers allow you to perform a wide range of exercises, including:

  • Jumps
  • Squats
  • Push-ups
  • High knees
  • Burpees
  • Crunches
  • Planks

So, if you’re someone looking to lose weight and get fit in a fun way, you can definitely try out the Tuby app. It’ll also suit you if you struggle to stick to a workout schedule or lose interest in gym classes after a few weeks.

How I Started Out With the Tuby App

I always prefer fitness apps that offer a personalized experience. So, this was the first thing I was looking for in the Tuby app, and I was relieved as a detailed questionnaire welcomed me before the signing up process.

I went to the official Tuby app website, and it directly asked me about my gender to get started. Next, it asked about my age, the areas of my body I want to improve, my current fitness level, preferred intensity of workouts, and my fitness goals.

But what impressed me the most was the fact that the app asked me about my height, current weight, and target weight that I wanted to achieve. This attention to detail showed Tuby’s dedication to tailoring a customized plan for every user.

After completing the questionnaire, I only needed to enter my email address to finish the signing-up process. At this point, a personalized plan was ready for me, which I grabbed after selecting a subscription plan.

Currently, Tuby offers three subscription plans, including monthly, quarterly, and bi-yearly. I went for the quarterly subscription model because I wanted to test every feature of the app thoroughly.

Features of the Tuby App

Here’s a list of the features that stood out to me the most about the Tuby app.

#1 Extensive selection of workouts

One of the very first things that I noticed about the Tuby app after I started using it is that it comes with over 300 fun and engaging workouts. I never got bored with the app, as I always had options that suited my preferences and goals.

Each workout is designed to incorporate motion-based movements, making them effective and enjoyable. It makes Tuby one of the best weight loss apps, as there are tons of games and activities available to achieve your fitness goals.

Since I didn’t feel like filming myself being all sweaty and out of breath, here’s a TikTok video of what Tuby workouts look like:

#2 Play anywhere, anytime

I also liked the app’s flexibility, which allows you to use it anywhere and anytime. You can simply install it on your smartphone to transform any space into your workout zone.

It means you don’t need any additional gadgets or equipment. It allows you to exercise on-the-go and fit workouts seamlessly into your daily schedule.

#3 Engaging and easy-to-complete games

The games and exercises that Tuby offers are both engaging and achievable. From frog jumping and gravity to ice skating and box mover, each game adds an element of excitement to your workouts.

The app’s extensive collection of over 68 games ensures that there’s always something new and enjoyable to try, preventing monotony.

#4 Big screen experience

To elevate your workout experience, Tuby allows you to play the app on a bigger screen, such as your TV. This option creates a more immersive and exhilarating environment and makes your workouts feel even more engaging.

#5 Excellent add-ons

Buying Tuby’s subscription comes with some added bonuses, including:

  • Cravings Control Manual: It helps you manage your hunger and get rid of bad eating habits.
  • Keto Made Easy Guide: It comes with a step-by-step process to learn the correct way to start the keto diet.
  • Healthy Breakfast Recipes: These recipes allow you to fuel your day with healthy, tasty, and nutritious food that serves your taste buds the best.

Although I didn’t use these add-ons because I’ve got these areas covered already, I thought it’d be nice to mention it for you, as you might find it helpful.

Expert’s Comment

While we all know that we should be doing 150 minutes of physical activity per week [2], the reality is that many of us don’t have time or find exercise boring and tiring.

It’s for this reason that active video games and AR fitness apps could be the answer to better engagement with exercise for previously inactive adults.

With AR, users are encouraged to move more while playing a computer game, increasing enjoyment levels and boosting fitness without feeling like they’re actually exercising.

Enjoyment is an incredibly important factor in the promotion of exercise, and by offering users a fun and engaging game that also improves fitness levels, creators of AR fitness apps may have tapped into a revolutionary method of weight loss.

What I Liked

At this point, you would have already understood that the Tuby app offers a new approach to exercise and comes with many benefits.

Now, let me explain the benefits it brings to the table.

#1 No equipment needed

Many people are put off by at-home workouts because of the amount of equipment that is needed. Even watching personal trainers online can feel overwhelming if they’re using lots of weights and bands that you don’t know about. Additionally, exercise equipment is fairly expensive, and the cost adds up.

Tuby helps you avoid the stress of trying to find the right equipment for each routine and helps you save money while still getting a curated and fitness instructor-inspired workout. No equipment is needed, just you, your phone/tablet, and the Tuby app.

#2 Personalized fitness games

Much research has been done into the effects of an individualized fitness program, with studies involving those with kidney disease, those with obstructive sleep apnea, and people with breast cancer, among many others [3][4][5]. Almost all of this research can attest that individualized exercise programs are an effective method of managing chronic conditions and illnesses.

Additionally, a personalized exercise approach ensures that all your accessibility requirements are met. If you struggle with certain movements or cannot move in a specific way, a personalized approach means you are accommodated.

Whether you’re dealing with a chronic condition or not, the personalized approach that the Tuby app offers can be very beneficial. I believe that it makes your workouts not only more specific to your goals but more accommodating to your body and your needs.

#3 Multiplayer capability

While everything that I’ve discussed so far is valuable, what really stands Tuby apart is that it allows you to involve your family and friends in your fitness routine.

Exercising together in friendly competitions not only makes workouts more enjoyable but also encourages others to be active and healthy. It allows you to spend quality time with your loved ones, which can act as an extra layer of motivation for your fitness journey.

Important note: Research shows that working out with another person can lead to greater pain thresholds, improve performance, and enhance social bonding [6]

#4 Progress tracking

To be honest, I always like to see what I have achieved in real-time when it comes to working out. That’s because seeing tangible results is what keeps me motivated, and I believe it’s the case with most people, as scientific research backs that [7].

I’ll give full points to Toby in this department because it offers comprehensive progress tracking. It allows you to monitor your achievements, set new goals, and visualize your improvement over time.

#5 Suitable for all fitness levels

Last but certainly not least, Tuby is suitable for all types of individuals, regardless of their fitness levels. Whether you’re a beginner or at an advanced stage, the app offers games and workouts suitable for your capabilities.

It provides a gradual progression from beginner-friendly games to more challenging workouts to help you move forward at your own pace.

It’s important to note that embarrassment, self-consciousness, and perceived difficulty are all common excuses for why people opt out of regular exercise. Many people find themselves lost when it comes to exercise, especially when choosing routines that will benefit them and help them reach their goals.

But that’s not the case with this app, as it focuses on gameplay rather than reps of individual exercises. It’s one of the most beginner-friendly approaches to exercise and can get you fit without even realizing how much exercise you’re doing.

What I Didn’t Like

While the Tuby app has an impressive list of benefits, there are some drawbacks I encountered while using it. You should keep them in mind before downloading the app.

#1 You need a phone, tablet, or TV

Tuby is an app-based workout method, which means you need access to an electronic device that will support it. This means a smartphone, tablet, or TV. While no additional equipment is needed, the electronic device is necessary.

While this may seem like a drawback, there aren’t many people who don’t have access to a smartphone, tablet, or TV these days.

#2 Some features cost extra

The Tuby app does have some in-app purchases for extra features. If you want to add these to your subscription, you may find it annoying that you then have to pay more on top of the monthly price.

#3 Sometimes it fails to register your movements

I know a thing or two about the techniques that developers use to register body movements, and I can tell you that it’s not easy. But still, it doesn’t mean that it’s not doable, as I’ve used a couple of gaming apps (not fitness) that perform this perfectly.

I’ll give Tuby 8.5 or maybe 9 out of 10 on detecting body movements because it sometimes fails to do so. It happened to me only a few times, but I thought I must mention it.

Pro tip: I noticed that the app fails to register your body movements when the color of your clothing and the background is similar. So, I recommend you wear clothes with different colors than your background to minimize this issue.

What Do Online Reviews Say About the Tuby App?

I never start using a new app without reading online reviews from previous users because it allows me to determine what to expect. I did the same for Tuby, and here’s what I found most useful.

While I didn’t have any complaints about the app, Kira thought that there were some exercises/games that beginners could find difficult to perform/play. Even though the app offers different types of games for both beginners and experts, I see her point.

I totally agree with Rillion, as the inclusion of music will make the entire experience more engaging and immersive.

FAQs

Where to get the Tuby app?

You can find the Tuby app on the creator’s website HERE. It is also available to download from Google Play or the App Store.

Is the Tuby app legit?

Yes. The Tuby app is a legit product from trusted creators in the digital wellness space. It uses evidence-based features to promote healthy engagement with exercise and physical activity.

Is the Tuby app suitable for teenagers?

Yes, the Tuby app can be used by adults and teenagers alike. It is designed for all fitness levels and is accommodating to all age groups.

How I Tested the Product

Innovation in the digital wellness space means that the market is flooded with all sorts of health and wellness apps. Therefore, filtering out the good options from the bad can be difficult, which is why product reviews are so useful.

Whenever I review a health app, I want to give as unbiased and balanced a view as possible. I make sure that our readers understand everything about the app thoroughly before handing over their cash.

After all, an app that is meant to improve your health needs to work in all the ways it says it does; otherwise, it’s a waste of time and money.

See below to find out how I have rated Tuby in different categories, such as quality, effectiveness, price, and brand reputation, to learn more about whether the app is right for you.

Quality 5/5

Quality is an integral part of health products. If it’s made to improve health, it needs to be of good quality. For a digital health app, this means it needs to be research-based and created with consultation from experts.

The Tuby app uses scientific research to back up the methods that are used within the app, and it has been created with the help of fitness experts and health professionals to ensure it is safe and effective.

So, in my opinion, Tuby is a high-quality digital fitness app that deserves at least 9 out of 10 in this category.

Effectiveness 4/5

If you’re paying money for something to improve your health, you want it to be effective; otherwise, it’ll be equal to wasting your money. There are lots of digital health apps available to download these days, so knowing what is effective and what isn’t can be pretty daunting.

The method used by the Tuby app has been proven time and time again to be effective for adherence to an exercise regime, improvement in fitness levels, and overall enjoyment of exercise.

I have rated Tuby highly in this category for this reason.

Price 4/5

I consider price one of the most important factors to consider before investing in any type of product. That’s because not everyone has a lot of money to spare each month.

While the monthly price of $39 seems justified because of all the useful features that Tuby offers, it’s still relatively high for an app subscription. However, it’s very reasonable if you compare it with the average monthly gym membership cost.

Therefore, I believe that 7.5 out of 10 is justified in this category.

Brand reputation 5/5

While a good brand isn’t always indicative of useful and effective products, it certainly makes it more likely. The creators of the Tuby app have a good reputation in the digital health and wellness market and are often at the cutting edge of trends.

For this reason, I believe users can put their trust in this app, so I have rated it well in this area.

Tuby: The Final Verdict

Tuby is an innovative approach to improving fitness levels and getting people to exercise more regularly. It requires no equipment, is accessible to all abilities and ages, and can even be used in multiplayer mode.

AR is a relatively new phenomenon in the digital health industry, but improvement in enjoyment level is known to boost adherence to an exercise regime. Therefore, apps like Tuby may be the key to boosting exercise levels in adults around the world.
