No counting calories, no meal plans – just hypnosis. This app claims it can reshape your eating habits, so I put it to the test. 

Many apps out there say they’ll help you build better habits or lose weight, and I’ve tried quite a few. Kure is one I came across recently. It’s a hypnotherapy-based app that says it can help with cravings, emotional eating, and even that gut-brain connection everyone’s talking about. 

The idea is to use personalized hypnosis sessions and daily mindset prompts to gently shift your behavior over time. Research shows hypnotherapy can significantly reduce anxiety (which is often associated with eating habits), alleviate chronic pain, and help people change problematic behaviors such as smoking. It’s supposed to be a low-effort, natural way to make lasting changes. But does it really work with weight loss?

As someone who’s explored many wellness and nutrition apps, I decided to try Kure myself to see how it holds up and whether it’s actually worth your time and money.

Trying Out the Kure App – Here’s How It Went

As someone who has tried most of the top nutrition apps on the market, I recently decided to give the Kure App a try. I was intrigued by the idea of using hypnosis for weight loss. The process began with a 20-question questionnaire. It was quick and straightforward, took less than five minutes, and resulted in a personalized hypnotherapy library just for me.

On my first day, the app provided me with both an introductory session and my first actual hypnotherapy session. Each session blends relaxation techniques, hypnotic induction, sound therapy, and uplifting affirmations. It felt calming and intentional, and I appreciated the gentle start.

What stood out to me was how easy it was to integrate into my routine. Every evening before bed, I’d press play on a 15-minute session, get cozy, and just listen. Sometimes I’d drift off mid-session or even fall asleep. 

After a few days, I noticed small shifts: I was making better food choices without overthinking, and feeling more motivated to take care of myself. It wasn’t dramatic, but the changes felt natural, like I was a calmer, more focused version of myself.

The app emphasizes consistency, and I learned firsthand that repetition does make a difference. One thing to note: if you skip three nights in a row, they recommend restarting from day one.

After exploring the Kure app and getting into a rhythm with the daily sessions, I noticed how thoughtfully the platform is structured. Beyond the core hypnotherapy experience, the app includes several other features designed to support your progress and motivation. 

Here’s a closer look at the key components that stood out to me: what worked well, and where there’s still room for improvement.

Personalized Hypnotherapy Library

The library includes 21 days’ worth of sessions, each around 15 minutes long. You can only unlock a new session after completing the previous one, so there’s no option to skip ahead. 

The calming woman’s voice worked well for me once I settled in, although at first, I found it a bit challenging to focus because the pace felt so slow. I fell asleep during my very first session, but since the content is designed to work on a subconscious level even while you’re sleeping, I didn’t worry too much.

One feature I really liked is the option to loop a session, whether you want to play it once or let it repeat all night. It’s perfect if you’re aiming for a full 8 hours of sleep while the session quietly does its thing in the background.

One thing for improvement could be more user-friendly navigation. For example, being able to rewind 5 or 10 seconds would be super helpful, especially when you hear something that resonates and want to go back and take it in. 

Booster Sessions

Booster sessions in the app are made up of short affirmation “shots”, as they’re called. They’re categorized by the best time to listen, either first thing in the morning, during snack time, or in those “SOS” moments when cravings hit hard. 

For someone who truly believes in the power of positive affirmations, it’s a thoughtful addition. That said, in my own experience, when a craving really hit, especially the kind that leads to standing in front of the fridge, it wasn’t exactly instinctive to reach for the app. 

The idea makes sense, but in those more impulsive moments, I usually turned to it afterward, more for reflection than prevention. Still, when used consistently, these sessions can be a helpful part of the overall routine. Even if they’re not a magic stop button in the heat of the moment.

Progress Section

The “My Progress” section in the app lets you log your current weight, target weight, and the date of your last update. I get that it’s there to help you stay aware and track your progress, but to be honest, it feels pretty basic. 

After using the app for several weeks and losing around 6kg, I found myself wishing for a more visual way to track progress – like a simple graph or timeline to reflect consistency. Even small celebratory milestones would go a long way in reinforcing motivation, especially when progress feels slow.

Daily Notifications

A nice touch to the whole experience and a chance to stay consistent are daily notifications. They can take a few forms: some remind you to tune into your morning booster sessions, while others offer little affirmations, gently encouraging you to say something kind out loud about yourself or your body. Initially, I enjoyed these notifications, but after a while, I noticed they became somewhat repetitive, so there’s room for improvement here.

What’s the Cost of the Kure Hypnosis App?

The cost of the app has different pricing models, based on how long you wish to commit. Of course, like always, the longer the subscription, the cheaper the price. I caught a limited-time deal, so the prices were lower than usual:

  • 2 months for $43.69 (was $87.37) – $0.72/day
  • 4 months for $48.54 (was $138.72) – $0.40/day
  • 6 months for $59.83 (was $239.33) – $0.33/day

Cancellation & Refund Policies

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 48 hours before the end of the billing cycle.

  • If you subscribed via the Kure website, you’ll need to cancel through your account on their site or by contacting their support team at [email protected].
  • If you signed up through the App Store or Google Play, cancellation must be done directly through your Apple or Google account settings.

And just to be clear, deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

As for refunds, they follow a strict no-refund policy, unless the app is proven to be faulty and you can provide visual proof within 14 days. If you’re unsure about committing long-term, it’s probably safest to start with a shorter plan.

What I found different about this program is that it doesn’t fixate on weight loss alone – it addresses eating behavior, emotional triggers, and mindset, rather than just numbers on a scale. It also looks at how your thoughts, habits, and emotions all play a part in how you eat and take care of yourself. There’s no pressure to change everything at once. Instead, it encourages you to notice patterns and make small changes over time. Here are a few parts of the app that stood out to me:

It’s Based on the Gut + Brain Connection

Gut + brain connection is a real, scientifically proven system, called gut-brain axis. It’s in charge of so many processes in the body, linked to digestion and anxiety, and even severe conditions like Alzheimer’s, autism, Parkinson’s, and more. 

That’s why I appreciate how this program is designed to help us understand and work with this connection. It’s not just about the body or the mind. It’s about learning to support both, together, in a more balanced way.

It Breaks Unhealthy Habits

What I found refreshing about Kure is that it doesn’t ask you to track every calorie or fixate on your weight, which is something I’ve seen a lot in other wellness apps. That constant monitoring can sometimes backfire, leading to more stress than progress. With Kure, the emphasis is more on tuning into your body’s cues.

For me, that looked like recognizing when I was eating out of stress instead of hunger, especially during long workdays or late evenings when I’d reach for snacks without thinking. The sessions encouraged me to slow down and check in with myself more often. Over time, I started noticing more healthy eating habits, such as eating more intentionally, stopping when I felt full, and letting go of that all-or-nothing mindset around food.

It’s not about being strict – it’s about learning to respond to what your body needs, which feels more sustainable in the long run.

Unlike many weight loss programs that make you feel guilty for eating something “bad” or missing a workout, this one takes a gentler approach. It sends little encouragements through notifications during the day and never shames you if you fall off track. 

If I skipped a session or had an off day, the app didn’t make a big deal out of it. I could just go back to a previous 15-minute-long session and continue at my own pace. That flexibility made it easier to stick with, especially during busier weeks.

There aren’t any extra assignments outside the sessions, but I found myself reflecting on certain topics that came up. Writing down a few thoughts afterward helped me notice patterns, like when I was more likely to eat out of stress or boredom. It wasn’t a required part of the process, but it made the experience feel a bit more personal and helped me stay more aware of my habits.

What Could Be Better

Of course, no weight loss program is perfect, and this one also has a few areas that could be improved to make the experience even better. These aren’t deal-breakers, but they’re worth mentioning, especially if you’re someone who values flexibility, variety, or just wants to know exactly what you’re signing up for. Here’s what could be better:

Could Provide a Free Trial

Like many weight loss programs, this one might not work for everyone, especially when it comes to hypnotherapy. It can sound intriguing, and some people may expect instant, almost magical results without putting in any real effort. While the effort required is generally less than what you would need with a strict diet or workout routine, it still takes commitment and consistency.

It might not be the right fit for those who are not ready to make the effort. Offering a trial option without any financial commitment could be a great way to let people explore it risk-free.

Could Include Longer Program

Right now, the app offers 21 personalized hypnotherapy sessions. So if you’re an “A+ student” and stay perfectly on track, you’ll finish the whole program in just three weeks, while still paying for an entire month. 

I get that most people fall off track once or twice and end up repeating some sessions (which is totally normal), but even so, it feels a bit limited and slightly unfair for those who stay consistent from the start.

Could Offer a Choice of Voices

While the hypnosis voice works well for me, I can imagine it might feel a bit too monotone for some. The voice matters since it’s something you listen to in your sleep and goes deep into your subconscious. 

Some people might prefer a deeper tone or even a male voice. If you don’t fully connect with it, that could become a barrier to fully relaxing and getting the most out of the sessions.

That said, I did notice there’s no in-app customer support available at the moment. While email works well, having the option to get help directly within the app would make the experience even smoother and more convenient, especially for quick questions or on-the-go issues. Hopefully, that’s something they consider adding in the future.
