Is Sriracha Keto?

Yes, sriracha can be part of keto. It contains a small number of carbohydrates per serving – about 1 g per teaspoon. It won’t hurt your keto diet if you add a bit of sriracha flavor to your meals. But be careful – add too much, and those calories will add up!

Lazy Keto

  • Sriracha is classified as a lazy keto food. These foods have a low amount of carbohydrates but contain little to no nutritional value.
  • Other examples of lazy keto food items include bacon, Caesar dressing, and ham.
  • Lazy keto foods may still help you reach the state of ketosis. However, because they offer very little nutritional value, it is wise not to make them a big part of your diet.

Low Carbs per 1 Tsp

  • Sriracha contains about 1 gram of carbohydrates per 1 teaspoon. This is pretty low, considering keto’s daily limit for carbs is less than 50g per day.
  • However, it is highly unlikely that a person would always use just one teaspoon of sriracha in every meal.
  • The keto diet allows the use of sriracha, albeit limited, especially with its high sugar content.

Contains High-Glycemic Sweeteners

  • Although it may not taste like it, sriracha sauce contains a considerable amount of sugar – 15.1 g per 100 g serving.
  • Table sugar has a glycemic index of 65. This means that it raises your blood sugar faster than other food types, preventing ketosis
  • If you love the taste of sriracha but don’t want the extra sugar, you can make your own sauce at home by using fresh ingredients and healthier alternatives to sugar.
