Are Snow Peas Keto?

Snow peas can be eaten in moderation on the ketogenic diet as they contain moderate carbs. You should limit how many snow peas you eat to avoid hindering your efforts to facilitate ketosis.

Keto if Limited

  • Snow peas are suitable for the keto diet if you limit your consumption. They contain a fair amount of carbs that can kick you out of ketosis if you eat too many.
  • A 100g serving of snow peas has 4.66g net carbs
  • Counting carbs is critical for success with the keto diet. You must limit your carb consumption to under 50g per day to allow your body to facilitate ketosis.
  • Reducing the number of carbs you eat enables your body to run out of glucose stores and switch to burning through fat stores instead.

Low in Fats

  • Aside from the carb count, snow peas are not a great match for keto because they do not contain fat. Fat is the priority macronutrient required for the keto diet, as it provides your body with fuel.
  • Without enough fats, your body will run out of energy.
  • If you are going to eat snow peas in moderation on keto, it is essential to add good fats to your meals as a supplement. Consume more virgin oils, such as olive oil.
  • A good way to incorporate fats into your diet while eating snow peas is to add ghee butter, grass-fed butter, or another oil of your choice. Doing so will ensure you meet your fat requirements.

Natural and Healthy Food

  • Although snow peas do not meet the ideal requirements for the keto diet, your body can still benefit from the many nutrients they contain.
  • Snow peas are a whole food with fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin K.
  • Whole foods are minimally processed and may help reduce your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic disorders.
