Are Pistachios Keto?

Pistachios are not a keto-friendly food as they are too high in carbs. Exceeding your daily carbohydrate intake may kick you out of ketosis.

 Not Keto-Friendly

  • Pistachios are not keto-friendly because they have 16.6g of net carbs per 100g serving.
  • The carb count is too high for the keto diet, which limits carbs to less than 50g per day to stay in ketosis.

High in Fats

  • Although high in fats, pistachios are not a good keto choice as they are just as high in carbs.
  • Fat intake is essential on the keto diet as your body uses fat as an energy source. However, your body will only burn fat for fuel if you reduce your carbohydrate intake.
  • It’s important to choose healthy fats that are high in fat but low in carbs.
  • Better nut options for keto include hazelnuts, pecans, and macadamia nuts.

Natural Product but Too High in Carbs

  • Pistachios are a natural product. They are minimally processed and provide a great source of healthy fats, fiber, protein, antioxidants, and other essential nutrients.
  • Unfortunately, they are no good for keto as they are high in carbs.
  • A small serving size could kick you out of ketosis or prevent you from reaching ketosis.
