Is Kiwi Keto?

Kiwi is not keto-friendly because it is too high in carbs and low in fats. Eating kiwi on the keto diet could prevent your body from switching to ketosis.

Not Keto-Friendly

• Kiwi has a high percentage of net carbs and a very low percentage of fats. It is not a suitable choice of fruit for a ketogenic eating plan because you need to eat foods that are low in carbs and high in fats. 
• Stick to fruits with minimal carbs to keep your body in ketosis so you can start losing weight. Good examples include strawberries and raspberries. 

Too High in Carbs

• Kiwi has 11g of net carbs per 100g serving.
• As your carb count must remain under 50g per day to reach and stay in ketosis, kiwi will quickly take up a large quantity of your carb intake. 
• When you eat too many carbs on the keto diet, your body will begin to burn those carbs for fuel instead of dipping into your fat stores. 
• You will only lose weight on keto if you severely limit your intake of carbohydrates. 

Natural 

• Kiwi is a nutrient-dense food with a sweet and tangy flavor. Kiwis are rich in vitamin C and other antioxidants. 
• Kiwis have high water content and are high in dietary fiber. Outside of the keto diet, they can be beneficial for weight loss. 
• While natural and nutritious, eating kiwi will not promote weight loss on the keto diet. 

Low in Fats

• Your body needs lots of healthy fats for energy during the ketogenic diet. Without enough fat on keto, your body will struggle to find fuel, and you will feel hungry and tired. 
• Kiwis have less than half a gram of fat per 100g serving. This is not enough to fuel your body on the keto diet.
