Is Guacamole Keto-Friendly?

Guacamole is keto-friendly. Loaded with healthy monounsaturated fats and minimal carbs, guacamole is the perfect keto snack, especially when served with crunchy, raw veggies. At the same time, it’s also one of the most nutritious and healthy foods.

Keto-Friendly

  • Guacamole has healthy monounsaturated fats, like olive oil, which provide nutrients and decrease bad cholesterol levels. Guacamole also has low carbs, making it an ideal keto diet food.
  • The avocado-based, creamy dip is low in sugars and calories and has a solid portion of fiber. On top of this, guacamole is a source of vitamin C and E and antioxidants.
  • Guacamole is packed with potassium, a mineral that helps you maintain a good fluid balance. That said, when on a low-carb, high-fat keto diet, you need to monitor your potassium intake to avoid the keto flu
  • This Mexican delicacy also helps with skin health, keeping it vibrant. Additionally, guacamole is a great substitute for carbohydrates and keeps you going for long periods of time.

Low in Fats

  • Guacamole has a decent amount of healthy monounsaturated fats. However, these are still low for a balanced ketogenic diet. So, don’t rely only on guacamole for your healthy fat intake.
  • Unsaturated fats, like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, are considered good because they lower disease risk. Some foods high in healthy fats are vegetable oils, including olive, sunflower, corn, and canola oil, as well as seeds, nuts, and fish.
  • On the other hand, saturated fats are mainly found in animal foods, like chicken. However, they can also be found in plant foods, such as palm and coconut oil. Other examples of foods high in saturated fats include fast food, pizza, cookies, and meat products, like bacon, sausage, and cheeseburgers.
  • In the long run, unhealthy fats can be dangerous for your health because they increase your cholesterol levels. This can lead to heart disease or stroke. So, avoid them at all costs and invest in healthy alternatives, like guacamole.

Natural Product

  • Guacamole is a 100% natural product. It only contains avocados, lime or lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. That’s all.
  • If you want, you can even add chopped onions or shallots, diced tomatoes, and jalapeño peppers for extra flavor and spiciness. And like other dips, there’s no right way to make it. Just mix everything in a bowl until you have a smooth texture.
  • Guacamole is also considered a party food. So, if your guests are into it, feel free to add seafood, like grilled shrimp, garlic, or olive oil for greater fat burning.
  • As a last note, remember that guacamole is extremely healthy, keto-friendly, has an amazing creamy taste, and is ideal for parties. Purely natural and without the slightest preservative, guacamole is delicioso!
