Is Burrata Cheese Keto-Friendly?

Burrata cheese is keto-friendly and suitable for your ketogenic diet. Like most cheese varieties, it is low in carbohydrates and high in protein and fats. Therefore, you can easily include this semi-soft Italian cheese in your keto meal plans.

Keto-Friendly

  • Keto dieters can benefit significantly from including cheese in their meal plan. 
  • Burrata cheese is an excellent choice because it has the macros necessary for the ketogenic diet. You can eat it without interrupting the ketosis state. 
  • A 100g serving has only 3.57g of total and net carbs, while a 28g serving has only 1g of carbs. So it won’t cause your body to switch back to carb-burning.

Source of Fats

  • Burrata is a good source of fat and will contribute to your daily fat requirements. A 100g serving has 21.4g of fat. Although 14.3g is saturated, it still provides healthy fats to support your heart and zero trans fats. 
  • Burrata contains more fat than other popular cheeses, such as cheddar, mascarpone, and cottage cheese, but has lower fat content than keto-favorite blue cheese.  
  • Fat is critical on keto, and cheese is one of the best ways to add fats to your plate. Eat gouda cheese or provolone if you want to add more fat to your diet. However, it is best to eat parmesan cheese in moderation while on keto.
  • You can pair this milky, buttery-flavored cheese with other healthy fat sources, such as walnuts.

  • Burrata does not contain additives, preservatives, or artificial flavors. 
  • It has a good amount of protein and minerals your body needs to thrive, including calcium, potassium, and sodium. Just be mindful of your serving size.
  • Taste-wise, burrata is similar to mozzarella cheese, and many substitute the two. So if you run out of mozzarella, burrata is the next best thing!
